At times, we’ve all been guided by an inspirational story or message that makes us stop and contemplate a situation that we can relate to from personal experience. At other times we are moved toward compassion by a story of someone that has positively experienced a life-altering situation that we wouldn’t want to imagine, let alone live through. We love to be inspired. We enjoy hearing stories of success, survival and triumph for they are what remind us that we are in life together for such a time as this.
Stories that move us with emotion are good, but what we do with that emotion is what counts. Living an inspired life is being an action-oriented individual. A few ways that inspiration can be effectively lived out include:
Being an Initiator
Our best intentions have no effect unless they are acted upon. Author, Andy Stanley says that “Direction, not intention determines our destination.” When we are guided by direction, we become initiators. If you want to inspire, map out a direction and then initiate how you will accomplish that intention.
Being an Influencer
Some of the best ways to influence others is to actively LISTEN to them and then ENCOURAGE them toward celebrating positive outcomes. Our influence to live inspired grows when we have invested in the lives of others.
Inspiring to Impact
Most of us want our very existence to have mattered; so we look for ways to be impactful. Being one who initiates and influences others positively will have more impact than we may ever know. The most important place to start to have an impact is within our own homes and communities.
We may not realize how much we do inspire others by being an initiator who acts, an influencer who listens or someone who has moved beyond self to inspire to impact. May we never stop looking for opportunities to live to inspire others and, in turn, be inspired by them.
