People don’t care about how much you know until they know how much you care.
When I first meet with a client, the most important element I want to know about her is what makes her tick. What gets a person excited is often something that is contagious and will inspire others. It is pure joy to see the light in someone’s eyes when he or she is talking about something that MOVES them. As a speaking and writing coach, I then get to figure out how he or she can best deliver that excitement in a written or verbal message that brings that same level of passion clearly, concisely and with pizzazz.
Time and again, what we care about the most can be integrated into our messages. What we care about is often related to what our audience wants to hear about. The next time you are delivering a message, show the audience that you not only care about the topic at hand, but you care about each individual who is in attendance. If you care about people, it shows–so be sure to check your ‘careometer‘ before you take the stage.
