Satisfaction. Happiness. Success. These are things many of us strive to attain. For almost two decades, I’ve been working closely with mission-hearted individuals (mostly women–but a few good men too) who are relatively satisfied, happy and successful. They have a few things in common…
DISCLAIMER: The individuals I’m referring to aren’t superhuman. They haven’t had breaks fall from the sky. Certainly, some have had calmer lives than others. Some came from loving homes; some from dysfunctional homes. Some are college graduates. Some are graduates of the school of experience. Some have seemingly pain-free happy lives. Some have had struggle upon struggle.
WAY #1: They LOVE what they do and are living their purpose.
Some of my clients, connections and entrepreneurial friends know without a shadow of a doubt that they are doing exactly what they were called to do. Their greater mission has been a divine and God-ordained calling. Because of this they are not just enduring or tolerating their work and getting through the day; they instead are LOVING their work. Not because it’s easy, but because their attitude is one filled with gratitude. They have come to the realization that they are where they are meant to be, regardless of the challenges.
WAY #2: They LOVE who they are.
Life hasn’t always been easy; however, they’ve chosen to rise above the challenges, seek the help they needed during the downturns and trials, and have gratefully accepted their strengths and limitations. They have not settled for enduring and tolerating. Instead, they have chosen to love, embrace joy and be a reflection of God’s love.
WAY #3: They have a deep FAITH and LOVE for God.
They don’t view themselves as any better than anyone else. They don’t run around trying to push their personal beliefs on others. They LIVE their faith daily. They recognize that life is a precious gift and that every day is a new opportunity to share love and faith with those around them.
So, what can we learn from these amazing individuals? A lot. Here’s the thing; however, YOU KNOW that you too have the very same beautiful qualities and opportunities. And they aren’t as far away as you think.
The common denominator isn’t a pain-filled or pain-free life.
It is BELIEF and LOVE.
What every single one of them has is a strong BELIEF in God. BELIEF in their purpose. BELIEF in their mission. BELIEF in themselves. All surrounded by LOVE.
Now…before you say, “So, what’s wrong with me.” The answer is absolutely positively NOTHING!!! I used to ask the same question. Then I realized — there’s nothing wrong with me. I just needed a little help here and there to learn, stretch, grow and uncover some of the hidden treasures within.
You might not realize it yet, but you have everything you need too. Like me, you may just need a little assistance or extra support or a dose of encouragement. I get it. This may not be something you’re used to. Maybe you were the smartest person in the room. Or, maybe everyone depends on you to have it all together so you don’t want to let them down. Or, maybe you don’t want to appear stupid so you stay in the shadows. Or maybe there were voices of others telling you that you couldn’t do what you wanted.
It’s time to take a time out and recognize…
No one has it all together; however, those who have figured out how to really flourish are OKAY WITH NOT BEING PERFECT. Tada! Not profound or philosophical at all is it?
YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO PROSPER.
So, here’s the crux of the matter: if you’re struggling. If you’re wrestling with one thing or another. If you’re a bit uncertain. If you’re wavering. If you’re in a place of transition. If you’ve listened to others. If you are a people-pleaser. If you’ve lost your way. No matter where you are, you can seriously move mountains. (Remember Dr. Seuss’ Oh the Places You’ll Go?)
However, we cannot do it all by ourselves — and that’s the very good news! We were created for community. We are wired to walk this life with others. We are ready for more than we think we are ready for.
That being said–YOU ARE READY for some simple strategies to pull out everything you already have and make your next steps impactful. I’m sharing a few ways to do that during a FREE workshop on March 3: Embrace Your Calling. If you have a mission on your heart and are ready to prosper at work, in life, and with faith, then be sure to join us for this free workshop!
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. 2 Peter 1:3-4
